Sexy Peacock

Family Inn and Eatery • Soldiers' Hangout • George's Meeting Place

Overview

The Sexy Peacock is an inn and restaurant on the outskirts of the capital, Eldoran, in the Tumble Downs at the edge of the Beaded Alley. Soldiers gather there after their shifts. Despite its name it is family-friendly; on its menu, "sexy" mostly means bacon. It is run by Seaford, a handsome young man with curled-back brown hair, and his wife Odette, who waits tables.

Finnegan sent the party there on their arrival in the capital to meet George, Olivia's grandson, embedded in the city guard (Session 57). In Session 58 the reunion turned into the mission briefing for the party's three-target strike, interrupted by a raid from soldiers wearing magic-detecting helmets. George later proposed it again as a meeting place (Session 61).

The Inn

  • The windows — Stained glass showing dancing peacocks. Odette explained they tell an old legend like Swan Lake — a prince, a flock of dancing peacocks, and a sorcerer dressed as an owl.
  • The name — The property came to Seaford from his family as something rather less family-friendly; the couple kept the name because the whole city already knew it.
  • House rules — Weapons are to be kept in check. Odette steers diners off the salad, since something going around was making people sick, and toward the mozzarella sticks.
  • Screens — The dining room shows broadcasts; the party watched the finale of Lord Bradicus's death-game there.

Session 58

The party ordered Texas cheese fries, "sexy burgers" and happy-hour margaritas while waiting on George, who arrived in guard's uniform and hugged his grandmother in front of the whole restaurant. In a private booth he explained his infiltration of the city guard for the Twilight Company and named the three targets: a factory at the spaceport, a research facility at the university where Captain Steel was stationed, and the barracks. When he tried to order by psychic link alone, Odette told him he would "need to use your lips."

Soldiers then entered wearing magic-detection helmets and began scanning the diners. Bru scattered his singing marbles to draw their attention while Silas worked open a stained-glass window and climbed onto the roof, where he waited out the search with a margarita and fries; the rest of the party stayed in their booths. The soldiers stopped at the next table, found diamond dust on a patron named Garrett, and let his table buy its way out with a thirty-five-gold bribe. Before leaving for Toothy's safehouse, Olivia finally asked Odette about the name.
