Olivia's Grandson • Twilight Company Operative • Inside Man in the Eldoran Guard

Overview​

George Cooper is Olivia's grandson and the youngest of her grandchildren. He calls her "Grandma". Elspeth, another of Olivia's grandchildren, is his cousin. A young Twilight Company operative, he first drew the party north when he vanished investigating dimensional rifts for Project Purple Patch. They pulled him out of the Shadowfell (Session 16) and later out of an Iron Claws hostage cage in the Great Hall (Session 36). He then volunteered as the Company's inside man in Eldoran, and as of Session 63 he is embedded in the city guard under cover. He briefed the party on the three sabotage targets for their strike on the city (Sessions 58 and 62) and got out of the barracks after Leliana warned him before the bomb went off. His species has never been stated.

Background​

  • Family: He is Olivia's grandson. She has always tried to look out for him, and he says she also inspires him "to be brave and be involved and try to do what's right."
  • Twilight Company: He learned cocktail-making and lockpicking from his mentor, Agent Finnegan, and defends the Company to Olivia as working against the Empire. His colour-coded journals recorded Project Purple Patch (an investigation of dimensional rifts), feuds among High Forge's gangs, and a Church of Tyr pilgrimage led by Father Jacob.
  • The party's view: Olivia is fiercely protective of him. The rest of the table, Silas above all, feels they have done nothing but bail him out, and they groaned when they learned he had signed up for undercover work in Eldoran.

Relationships​

  • Olivia: His grandmother. She broke open a rift with Divine Smite to reach him, and she is torn between pride and fear over his undercover work.
  • Elspeth: His cousin; Olivia is grandmother to them both.
  • Silas: Taught him lockpicking on the climb up Grimvar's Spine and pickpocketed him as a "test", but has little patience for him.
  • Finnegan: His Twilight Company mentor and contact, who put the party in touch with him in Eldoran.
  • Leliana: His psychic contact during the Eldoran operation. She warned him to clear the barracks before the bomb went off.

Session History​

  • Session 2 — Olivia investigates George's disappearance and learns he was seen with a halfling named Finnegan. He left a note saying to find his lockbox if he went missing.
  • Session 3 — Olivia finds his colour-coded journals on Project Purple Patch and learns he was last seen heading north on a Church of Tyr pilgrimage by way of Milstrom.
  • Session 10 — The party learns that George and Finnegan passed through the tunnels on the pilgrimage.
  • Session 15 — On Grimvar's Spine the party finds George's belongings and journal at a corrupted shrine. The journal records visions of dark figures waiting on the other side of a rift.
  • Session 16 — George calls out from beyond a rift into the Shadowfell, and Olivia smites it open to rescue him and the pilgrims. He admits to his Twilight Company training under Finnegan.
  • Session 17 — He travels with the party up Grimvar's Spine, holding forth on Project Purple Patch and the goliath clans, while Silas teaches him lockpicking.
  • Session 36 — He is among the Iron Claws' hostages in the Great Hall, and the party frees him from his cage.
  • Session 54 — Finnegan reveals that George volunteered to go undercover in Eldoran's forces and checks in weekly by sending stone. Olivia takes the stone.
  • Session 58 — He meets the party at the Sexy Peacock in city-guard uniform, explains he has spent months infiltrating the guard for the Twilight Company, and names three sabotage targets: the spaceport factory, the university research facility and the barracks.
  • Session 60 — Scouting the barracks, the party glimpses him leaving a building across a courtyard of chained prisoners.
  • Session 61 — The party spots him running laps with his squadron. When Leliana contacts him by message spell, he puts off meeting until later at the Sexy Peacock.
  • Session 62 — He helps finalise the three-pronged strike, advising a midday blast and warning of a citywide lockdown, and takes the barracks lookout post. After Leliana arms the bomb, she psychically warns him to get out.
