April Bonal

Overview​

April Bonal is a human socialite from a chocolate-trading family whose disappearance after a Doomfall concert became one of Detective Chalk Rock's missing persons cases in High Forge. She had been held in the synthesis laboratory and escaped when Silas blew the place up, then hid in an encampment beneath the city with Casey Bones and the tortle monk Bernardo. She was last seen after the fall of the Iron Claws (Session 37), when Olivia and Elspeth talked her group out of throwing looted vault gold at crowds and into working with Chalk Rock on relief distribution. She has not appeared since.

Background​

  • Family: A chocolate-trading family; recaps call her a socialite.
  • Disappearance: Last seen at a Doomfall concert months before Session 32. Her friends Snickers and Kit Kat were looking for her, and Chalk Rock linked her case to other missing people (Casey Bones, Bernardo, Montgomery Bell and Taylor Kyler Moore), all tied to the synthesis lab.
  • Escape: She was one of the test subjects in the synthesis lab and got out when Silas blew it up. She told the party she jumped out through the glass and had been lying low since.

The Sewer Encampment​

The trail from Chalk Rock's case ran through Rattie's Pie Land, a pizza place Bernardo had taken over, and down a sewer grate in its kitchen. Below it April, Casey Bones and Bernardo, Ohma's fellow monk, had set up camp. April told the party that the ravers were being run by a raver called Kang One from a nightclub under the city, and she and Bernardo led the party through the sewers to it.

The party came back to rest at the encampment during the push against the Iron Claws. By then April had a chemistry set and a poison that she, Casey and Bernardo had meant to put in pizza for Kang One.

Relationships​

  • Bru: Rivals. Bru beat her at arm-wrestling, then drank her poison to prove it was weak. It nearly killed him, and she watched his saving throws, insisting it should have killed him already.
  • Casey Bones: Her companion in the encampment. The two share a tent.
  • Bernardo: Tortle monk from Ohma's order who runs Rattie's Pie Land and makes pizza for the group.
  • Chalk Rock: Investigated her disappearance. Her group agreed in Session 37 to work with him on handing out the vault gold.
  • Silas: She recognizes him as the man who blew up the lab and freed her.

Session History​

  • Session 32 — Chalk Rock tells the party about her disappearance after a Doomfall concert and links it to the synthesis lab victims. Her friends Snickers and Kit Kat are looking for her.
  • Session 33 — The party follows her trail through Rattie's Pie Land into the sewers and finds her with Casey Bones and Bernardo. She explains her escape, names Kang One as the ravers' controller, and guides the party to his nightclub.
  • Session 35 — The party rests at her encampment. Bru beats her at arm-wrestling, then drinks her poison and nearly dies, while she insists it should already have killed him.
  • Session 37 — After Helja's fall, her group takes the Ford F-150, robs the dwarven vaults and throws gold at lunchtime crowds. Olivia and Elspeth persuade them to work with Chalk Rock on distributing it instead.
