Doomfall

Metal Act • Helisanna's Band • The Purple-Eyed Crowd

Overview

Doomfall is the metal act fronted by Helisanna Doomfall and managed by Silas Fairbanks, with Bru on pyrotechnics. Its shows in High Forge left audience members with glowing purple eyes, and the devoted, purple-eyed crowd that grew from them became the ravers. The party's vehicles riff on the name: the van is the Zoomfall and Elspeth's race car the Vroomfall. Older recaps that call the race car "the Doomfall" mean the Vroomfall; Doomfall is only the band.

Current status (Session 63): inactive. Helisanna left the party in Session 34 and kept performing on her own, last at the Lotus Casino (Interlude XII). Since Session 57 she is no longer apart from the party: she is one of the two personas of Leliana Goldspring (both played by Luke Neverisky), and Leliana can switch into her at will.

Performance History

  • The Little Hovel (Session 1): Helisanna headlined the final act at The Little Hovel, with Bru's pyrotechnics synced to the set and Red colouring the flames purple. Audience members' eyes glowed purple and the show was an unforgettable success. Silas then booked a 10,000-gold gig with Sandra Talks.
  • The Forge Heart concert (Session 5): a show for thousands. It started flat and was saved by Bru's pyro-cannons and Red's blessing; glowing-eyed fans joined the band on stage, and Helisanna rose on a harness with firework "wings" for the finale. Silas recorded the show on "magic stones" to resell.
  • On the road: a radio played Doomfall songs (Session 23), and in Session 25 Tien admitted to being a Helisanna Doomfall fan with several of her MP3s.
  • The Little Hobble (Session 32): despite warnings about the mind-control effects, Helisanna played to the ravers, commanded them through her music, and sent them out to prepare a massive concert. The missing April Bonal had last been seen at a Doomfall concert.
  • The Great Hall (Session 36): after the split, Helisanna played her concert in the Great Hall while her ravers swarmed the Iron Claws.
  • Lotus Casino (Interlude XII): Helisanna and her ravers occupied the Lotus Casino with round-the-clock concerts until the casino's reset sent them home.

The Music and the Purple Eyes

Helisanna's music drew on her warlock pact with Y'chek, the primordial spirit of dark, melancholic music. Purple mist and energy streamed from her guitar-axe as she played, and the effect on audiences — mostly teenagers and young adults — was automatic rather than chosen. Those most affected gathered as the ravers.

After the split, Leliana's music was seen to do the opposite: where Helisanna's drove people into a mania, Leliana's calmed and cleared them (Session 38).
