The Ravers

Underground Movement • Purple Eyes • Helisanna's Crowd

Overview​

The Ravers are the purple-eyed teenagers and young adults of High Forge who gathered by the thousands for underground parties after Helisanna Doomfall's concerts. Her music, powered by her pact with the primordial Y'chek, left audiences with glowing purple eyes, and the drug violescence (V) in the Under Lake deepened their dependence. The party used them as an army against the Iron Claws; afterwards Helisanna led them to occupy the Lotus Casino.

Current status (last seen Session 38): many ravers are recovering. Calmer music around the city was stabilising them and letting them return to their families and jobs, though some still slipped down to the lower city for a rock night. Helisanna, their focus, has since Session 57 been one of the two personas of Leliana Goldspring (both played by Luke Neverisky); the ravers have not appeared since.

Origins​

  • The first purple eyes (Session 1): audience members' eyes glowed purple at Doomfall's show at The Little Hovel. At the Forge Heart concert (Session 5), glowing-eyed fans climbed on stage to join the band.
  • The phenomenon named (Session 23): groups of "zombie-like" purple-eyed teenagers and young adults were gathering in High Forge, spending their time around the Under Lake and obsessed with music, a behaviour that began after Helisanna's concerts. The party suspected Helisanna's influence, the drug-tainted lake water, or both. When Helisanna played, purple mist spread from her performance and turned locals' eyes purple.

The Movement​

  • The underground rave (Session 26): thousands of purple-eyed teenagers were found partying in an enormous underground nightclub right next to the resistance headquarters.
  • V and withdrawal (Session 27): a raver named Sia, with bleach-blonde bangs and glowing purple eyes, spoke for a faction that wanted to throw parties in the Under Lake. The ravers had used up the V in the lake water and now bought it from Helja. Withdrawal brings days of catatonia followed by violent desperation; detox works but takes time and support. When the party's lab explosion released V into the streets, ravers were drawn to it "like moths to flame".
  • Crang (Sessions 33–34): according to April Bonal, the ravers were being controlled by Crang (also recorded as "Kang One"), who operated from a nightclub beneath the city. The party fought Crang and his ravers in Session 34, as the ravers' psychic assaults drained their minds.

Helisanna's Army​

  • Recruitment (Session 32): at The Little Hobble, Helisanna commanded the ravers through her music and sent them out to prepare a massive concert for the party's assault. April Bonal, a missing person, had last been seen at a Doomfall concert.
  • The split (Session 34): when Helisanna split into two women, her ravers swarmed her and carried her away. They stayed committed to the attack on the Iron Claws.
  • The Great Hall (Session 36): during Helisanna's concert, the ravers swarmed through the hall attacking Iron Claws soldiers.
  • The Lotus Casino (Interlude XII): Helisanna and her ravers took over the Lotus Casino, holding daily mandatory concerts, wrecking the lobby, and kidnapping Marvin. More than half of the casino's staff had fallen under Helisanna's thrall. The casino's reset sent everyone home.
  • Rehabilitation (Session 38): smooth jazz and other calm music playing around High Forge was helping many ravers recover and reintegrate. The Under Lake was shut off and its water untrusted, and Helisanna was still somewhere in the city's deeper reaches.

  • Session 1 — Audience members' eyes glow purple at Doomfall's Little Hovel show.
  • Session 23 — Purple-eyed "ravers" are reported gathering around the Under Lake; Helisanna's performance turns locals' eyes purple.
  • Session 26 — Thousands of ravers are found partying beside the resistance headquarters.
  • Session 27 — Sia speaks for a raver faction; the ravers' dependence on V and its withdrawal effects come to light.
  • Session 32 — Helisanna commands the ravers at The Little Hobble and sends them to prepare a concert.
  • Session 34 — The party fights Crang and his ravers; after Helisanna splits, the ravers carry her away.
  • Session 36 — The ravers swarm the Iron Claws during Helisanna's Great Hall concert.
  • Interlude 12 — Helisanna and her ravers occupy the Lotus Casino until its reset sends them home.
  • Session 38 — Calm music is rehabilitating many ravers and helping them reintegrate.
