Tony Stickers

Magic-dampening contraband • Party supply

Overview

Tony Stickers are small stickers printed with the icon of Tony, which give off a faint magical buzz and dampen magic. Stuck on a magic item, they are meant to hide it from the Magic-Detection Helmets that patrol the Eldoran capital. The party has 75. About half went onto its gear before the barracks scouting in Session 60 and the rest were kept in reserve. The stickers have not come up at the table since.

Origin

In Session 60, while shopping in the Beaded Alley, Elspeth found a sticker book buried in Fredo Boggins's artificer shop. The shop is marked with Tony's icon (in the capital, Fredo explained, Tony is followed as a philosophy, not a faith, since there is "no god but Eldora"). Outside it, helmeted soldiers were keeping a tally of magic purchases. An Arcana check of 21 told her the stickers were probably magical dampeners. The binder held about fifteen stickers to a page. Elspeth did not want to expose Fredo or take his whole supply. She tore out five pages and quietly left payment in the binder.

Use

Before scouting the barracks that night, the party stickered its magic items:

  • Bru — about two dozen. Nearly everything he carries is something he has modified into magic, and one sticker went on Kevin.
  • Silas — four: his Cloak of Arachnida, hat of disguise, ring of protection and wand of webs.
  • Elspeth — four or five, including her gun, her hat of disguise and her wrench.

Bru asked for a few spares for things he conjures on the spot. The DM noted that the party had already used about half its stickers, and the rest were kept back.

Session History

  • Session 60 — Elspeth finds a hidden book of dampening stickers in Fredo Boggins's shop and takes five pages (75 stickers), and the party uses about half of them before scouting the barracks, most of them on Bru.
