Ford F-150

Pickup truck • Chalk Rock's government vehicle in High Forge

Overview

The Ford F-150 is a luxury pickup truck that Taco Cat stole from the Iron Claws during Lady Corwin's vault heist in High Forge. It has stayed in High Forge since the end of Arc 2 (Session 37). It serves as a government vehicle, driven mostly by Chalk Rock as he goes about the city's work, and the party is still allowed to borrow it. When the party left for Greyport in Session 38, the DM confirmed that the truck stays in High Forge: "Y'all gave it to High Forge." It has not been seen since.

Properties

  • The DM's showcase. In Session 29 the DM delivered a long, loving description of it, product-placement style. It is antimatter blue with a crew cab, and its towing capacity is its pride. The joke has run for the rest of the campaign.
  • Tough. In Session 29 Olivia slashed one of its tires, but according to the recap it can run 50 miles on a flat.
  • Well equipped. In Session 33 the DM noted it carries the usual truck gear, such as tie-downs and chains.

History

The heist (Sessions 29–31)

During Lady Corwin's heist on the royal vaults, Bru, Olivia and Elspeth were sent to take the transport truck while the others hit the vault. They found the F-150 in a garage guarded by three Iron Claws members and a set of strangely behaving golems, and took it by force. In Session 30 its trailer hitch knocked over the first domino of the truck team's Rube Goldberg machine, which blew a hole into the vault. The party loaded the gold into it and drove out of the city, bribing the guards with ice-cold Coca-Cola. It carried them through the mountains in Session 31, where they were attacked by dragons on the road and found the Blackstone garage, the source of the Bugatti.

The teens' Robin Hood run (Session 37)

After Helja Ungar's fall, the party learned that April Bonal's group of teenagers had taken the truck, raided the dwarven vaults and started throwing gold at passers-by and lunchtime crowds. Olivia and Elspeth tracked them to their camp under a huge tree and persuaded them to work with Chalk Rock on distributing the gold properly. The DM's epilogue settled the truck's fate: it became a government vehicle, which Taco Cat used now and then but which Chalk Rock mostly drove around the city. Elspeth, who dislikes Chalk Rock, makes a point of showing Olivia every new ding he puts in it. The Session 37 recap gives this grudge to Olivia, but the transcript shows it is Elspeth's.

Left behind (Session 38)

When the party set out for Greyport, Silas wanted to bring the truck and was told it had been given to High Forge. The party left in the van, the Zoomfall, towing Elspeth's race car, the Vroomfall, with the Bugatti alongside.

Not to Be Confused With

The getaway car of the Sisyphus Circle, which blew up with Spoons in it in the flashback of Interlude 13, is not this truck. The recap calls it "the getaway Ford F-150", but in the transcript Spoons says only that he put an F-150 engine in his car.
