Sending Stones

Magic items • Several held by the party

Overview​

Sending stones work in pairs: a message sent through one arrives at its match. The party holds several as of Session 63. The most important is the stone that reaches Luna: its partner was thrown down to her skeleton at the crash site in Session 42, and Silas took it from Victor in Session 45. Olivia also holds the stone George reports through (Session 54), and Silas keeps a line to Naomi.

The Stones​

  • Luna's stone. Victor had a pair of stones; Bru carried one, decorated with Victor's logos, to reach him (Session 40). As the party fled Luna's crash site, Bru handed his over, and Ohma, with Bafael's help, threw it down beside Luna's skull (Session 42). Victor kept the matching stone until Silas demanded it in Session 45. Through it Luna spoke and manifested in the pocket village (Session 46), and raised the alarm when Eldoran knights began chaining her remains (Session 52).
  • Naomi's line. Silas saved Naomi's contact in his sending stone as "Muscle Mommy" (Interlude 7) and makes nightly calls to her (Session 40).
  • Victor's stone in High Forge. The party overheard a call to Victor's stone from the Twilight Company's Mira about the Iron Claws controlling the tunnels (Session 7).
  • Lark's stone. Lark gave the party a stone to coordinate the infiltration of High Forge (Session 25).
  • Cringe's stone. Silas took it off the unconscious Cringe (Session 48) and used it to call Denlin while posing as Cringe (Session 49).
  • Caspian's stone. After Razlemania, Gary promised the party a sending stone for his aunt Caspian, who is alive but held by Crowley. Crowley took Gary too, that night (Session 51). The party was on its way to Iro's workshop to collect it when Luna's alarm came (Session 52).
  • George's stone. Olivia made Finnegan give up the stone George reports through. George checks in on Wednesdays through a drop, so she pocketed it rather than risk exposing him (Session 54). In the capital George told the party not to use it, since it would be tracked to him, and to send messages through Toothy instead (Session 58).

The Session 52 recap says Luna sent the same message to everyone she gave a stone to. The transcript does not support this: the table joked about it, and the DM said the message was "probably just for you".

Session History​

  • Session 7 — The party overhears a call to Victor's sending stone from Mira about the Iron Claws controlling the tunnels.
  • Interlude 7 — Naomi agrees to keep seeing Silas, who saves her in his sending stone as "Muscle Mommy".
  • Session 25 — Lark gives the party a sending stone to coordinate the infiltration of High Forge.
  • Session 40 — Silas makes his nightly call to Naomi, and Bru contacts Victor on a stone covered in Victor's logos.
  • Session 42 — Ohma, with Bafael's help, throws Bru's Victor stone down beside Luna's skull, pairing Victor's stone with the crash site.
  • Session 45 — Silas walks up to Victor and says "Give me the sending stone"; Victor hands it over.
  • Session 46 — The party uses the stone in the pocket village, and Luna speaks and appears: "I'm not dead yet."
  • Session 48 — Silas knocks Cringe out and takes his sending stone.
  • Session 49 — Posing as Cringe, Silas calls Denlin on the stolen stone before the orphanage infiltration.
  • Session 52 — Luna's stone lights up with her plea for help against the Eldoran knights at Luna Trench.
  • Session 54 — Olivia makes Finnegan give up the sending stone George reports through, and pockets it.
  • Session 58 — George tells the party a sending stone would be tracked to him and to message him through Toothy.
