Fredo Boggins
Artificer • Shopkeeper, Beaded Alley • Eldoran Capital
Overview
Fredo Boggins runs an artificer's shop marked with Tony's icon in the Beaded Alley marketplace of the Eldoran capital. His father, also Fredo, ran the shop before him, and a Fredo before that, and the military buys from him. He knew Elspeth by reputation as a racer and mechanic, and she has befriended him under her own name. His shop was the source of the magical dampening stickers the party took in Session 60, and in Session 62 he told Elspeth about the Empire's harmonic engines. He has not appeared since.
Tony in Eldoran
Elspeth is sponsored by Tony back home. In Eldoran, Fredo explained, Tony is followed as a philosophy rather than a faith, since there is "no god but Eldora." His circle still holds early-morning gatherings, around seven, where mechanics talk philosophy, and he invited Elspeth to one.
The Sticker Run (Session 60)
In Session 60, Bru sent Elspeth shopping, and she found Fredo's shop while white-armored soldiers worked through the alley tallying magical purchases. Fredo chatted about the racing circuit. When Elspeth brought up her old rival Denlin, he told her not to carry hate around like spare parts. She found a hidden cache of Tony stickers, magical dampening tags that hide items from the Empire's scanners. She tore out five pages of them before he came around the counter and quietly left payment in the binder. The rest of her list came to 200 gold, which Scarlet paid. Fredo knocked 20 gold off in exchange for news from High Forge.
The Tony Gathering (Session 62)
At dawn in Session 62, Elspeth went undisguised to a Tony gathering at a mechanic shop off the park's outer boulevard, with Silas and Scarlet along. Fredo welcomed her with coffee and donuts and introduced his longtime friend Samo. Talking shop, he told her about harmonic engines: violescence crystals combined to make them about ten times more powerful. Visitors had talked about using them on vehicles, and with enough of it, he said, "you can make something pretty big happen." He also mentioned the light lanes installed to the barracks in January. He said military recruiters had tried to sign him up the week before but left him alone because he supplies them.
