Lady Corwin

Overview​

Lady Corwin was a posh dwarven noblewoman in the High Forge resistance who planned the Vault 7 gold heist that Taco Cat carried out. The party later concluded that her real aim was to deliver the city to the Eldoran Empire and install her family as its governors. She was among the hostages the Iron Claws held in the Great Hall, and she died there in Session 36. As of Session 63 she is dead; her mercenary army came to High Forge after her death, looked the city over, and left.

Role in the Resistance​

The party met her at the resistance headquarters beneath High Forge, alongside Victor and Sia. Victor wanted to blow up the Iron Claws' V production facilities. Lady Corwin argued against demolition and for a gold heist: the Iron Claws sent a large tribute shipment "up the mountain" every full moon, and intercepting it would bankrupt Helja Ungar, expose whom she was paying, and leave the city's infrastructure standing.

Her heist plan targeted 500,000 gold pieces of dragon tribute held in Vault 7 of the royal vaults. Her cousin, Captain Corwin, commanded the transport convoy. The party would pose as the official escort with forged documents, load the gold, and divert it to a hideout. She said the resistance needed 1 million gold to hire a mercenary army, that this shipment was her whole war chest, and that failure would force her to flee.

During the heist she sent Bru, Elspeth and Olivia to help "the triplets", a resistance team stuck with golems in the lower vault levels. She called Bru "my favorite".

True Motives​

After the heist, Silas worked out her actual plan in Session 31. The mercenary army was real, but it was meant to hand High Forge and its violescence to the Eldoran Empire, and the Corwins would rule the city as governors under imperial authority. The party kept the stolen gold and began planning their own assault on Helja. In Session 32, Victor confirmed that Corwin had been working for the Empire.

Death​

In Session 36, the Iron Claws took hostages in the Great Hall, and Lady Corwin was one of them. The party freed most of the captives, but she died in the battle. In the Session 37 transcript the players recall leaving her body to burn. About a month later her mercenary army arrived under Captain Sir Eric, marched through High Forge, investigated, and left. The official report said the city was "sacked and nothing worth saving."

Relationships​

  • Captain Corwin ("Triple C"): Her cousin, a separate person. He commanded the tribute convoy but had been turned by the Iron Claws. He fought the party in Vault 7 in Session 30, where the party took his smoke-wreathed black sword. He came back to the Great Hall in Session 36 "looking like a vacant undead puppet" and escaped the collapse.
  • Victor: A fellow resistance planner. They disagreed on strategy, and he later confirmed her Eldoran ties.
  • Taco Cat: They carried out her heist and then kept the gold once they saw through her.

Session History​

  • Session 27 — Meets the party at resistance headquarters and argues for intercepting the Iron Claws' full-moon tribute shipments instead of Victor's demolition plan.
  • Session 28 — Lays out the 500,000-gold Vault 7 heist, with her cousin Captain Corwin commanding the convoy the party will impersonate.
  • Session 29 — Paces at headquarters during the heist and sends Bru, Elspeth, and Olivia to help the triplets.
  • Session 30 — Her cousin Captain Corwin turns out to be working for the Iron Claws and fights the party in the vault; the party escapes with the gold.
  • Session 31 — Silas works out that she plans to hand High Forge to the Eldoran Empire with her family as governors; the party keeps the gold.
  • Session 32 — Victor confirms she has been working for the Eldoran Empire.
  • Session 36 — Held hostage by the Iron Claws in the Great Hall, she dies in the rescue battle.
  • Session 37 — Her death is recapped; a month later her mercenary army under Captain Sir Eric passes through High Forge and reports the city "sacked and nothing worth saving."
